The use of telematics is widespread throughout the bus and coach industry to:

  • Optimise fleet utilisation
  • Manage adherence to timetables and schedules
  • Enable compliance with contractual arrangements.

TCA supports the use of telematics and related intelligent technologies in the bus and coach industry by providing:

Advice – on the use of telematics and related intelligent technologies to achieve outcomes which align with government programs and strategies

Accreditation – through the type-approval of hardware, systems and services, against performance based functional and technical requirements, and the management of pilots and trials

Administration – such as the provision of a Certified Telematics Service (CTS) for Tasmanian Department of State Growth (DSG) to manage the performance of bus service contracts against government requirements.
