The Telematics Device to Drowsiness Device Communications Protocol sets interoperability requirements for fatigue management devices.

It establishes a standardised way to transfer information and ensure interoperability between different fatigue management devices and other connected devices in a vehicle.

The protocol contains requirements for:

• Technology stack – the high-level technology used to deliver the protocol
• Message design – the messaging between devices
• Message specification – the content of each message. 

TCA has worked with telematics providers and suppliers of fatigue management devices to develop the protocol.
