Internationally, the governmental authorities responsible for road transportation and road infrastructure collect data on (special) permits for heavy vehicles and measurement data from Weigh In Motion (WIM) systems. Rarely are these two unique data sources fused, or used, together for a better understanding of route specific freight transport.
The International Society for Weigh In Motion (ISWIM) is inviting researchers, the users of WIM data and the authorities involved with permits for special transport to meet in a virtual setting. This workshop aims to provide a forum to present specific data issues and approaches using the data to improve our knowledge of the freight network and roadway loading.
The program includes experiences from around the world in using permit and WIM data to support detailed knowledge of roadway freight travel characteristics. Gavin Hill, Transport Certification Australia’s General Manager for Strategy and Delivery, will join speakers from Europe and Americas to talk about the economics of permits and WIM data fusion from the Intelligent Access Program in Australia.
Attendance in the workshop is free.
