National Telematics Framework – TCA launches explanatory videos

8 October 2018

Transport Certification Australia (TCA) today released four videos on the National Telematics Framework.

The National Telematics Framework is a government-endorsed, digital business platform for telematics and related intelligent technologies, which manages the relationships and interactions between producers, providers and consumers – as depicted below:

The Chief Executive Officer of TCA, Chris Koniditsiotis, said “The videos provide a way to explain and communicate the principles of the National Telematics Framework.” There are four videos in the series:

  • About the National Telematics Framework
  • The Framework as a Digital Business Platform
  • Levels of Assurance Available through the Framework
  • National Telematics Framework documents.

“The Framework as a Digital Business Platform video explains the difference between ‘pipeline’ and ‘platform’ business models by using examples from other marketplaces.”

“By doing so, we underline the importance of having common business rules – that provide producers, providers and consumers with consistency, clarity and certainty – which are necessary to support an open technology market,” said Mr Koniditsiotis.

The videos complement the updated suite of National Telematics Framework documents which were released in July 2018, to provide greater clarity to producers, providers and consumers.”

The documents included:

The National Telematics Framework supports a growing number of applications of telematics and related intelligent technologies, with multiple levels of assurance to suit the needs of different stakeholders.
