Changes to telematics requirements in Queensland – Are you ready?

Are you a heavy vehicle driver or transport operator in Queensland who uses telematics devices to unlock productivity or access benefits? There are some significant changes happening by 1 June that you need to be aware of:

What’s changing?

Who’s affected?

Performance Based Standards (PBS) vehicles and vehicles operating at higher mass limits (HML) in Queensland that are enrolled in IAP and/or interim OBM.

What you need to do

  1. Speak with a TCA-certified TMA service provider to enrol in the relevant TMA scheme.
  2. If required by permit, have a TCA-approved Smart OBM system fitted to your vehicle.
  3. Cancel your IAP enrolment by emailing the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads at [email protected] (until 28 March 2024) or the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator at [email protected] (from 2 April 2024).
