National Telematics Framework Working Group

TCA with stakeholders

The National Telematics Framework (NTF) Working Group comprises representatives from Australia’s road and transport agencies from each state and territory, the Australian Government, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and other relevant government agencies.

The NTF Working Group provides oversight and advice to TCA on policies and programs that use applications through the National Telematics Framework. The Working Group oversees a range of project-related activities with the objective to achieve a nationally harmonious, efficient and high value use of policies that use telematics.

The purpose of the NTF Working Group is to:

  • Facilitate discussions between the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), road and transport agencies, and other government stakeholders to achieve more nationally harmonious, efficient and higher value use of telematics for regulatory purposes
  • Align and inform better planning for delivery of policy that uses telematics, including new and existing monitoring schemes, and the development of new applications and functionalities under the NTF
  • Inform TCA’s forward view of potential telematics uses, analytical tools, data types and technologies required to support the NTF
  • Provide updates on the use and participation within the NT, including insights from data and market analysis.

Industry members may be invited to attend the Working Group from time-to-time.

TCA chairs the NTF Working Group that meets adjacent to (or as part of) the NHVR access national policy forum, or as needed.
