Changes to telematics requirements in Queensland – Are you ready?
19 March 2024
Are you a heavy vehicle driver or transport operator in Queensland who uses telematics devices to unlock productivity or access benefits? There are some significant changes happening by 1 June that you need to be aware of:
Deadline: 1 June 2024
What’s changing?
- Eligible vehicles need to transition from the Intelligent Access Program (IAP) to the Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA).
- Eligible vehicles need to transition from Queensland’s interim On Board Mass (OBM) to Smart OBM.
Who’s affected?
Performance Based Standards (PBS) vehicles and vehicles operating at higher mass limits (HML) in Queensland that are enrolled in IAP and/or interim OBM.
What you need to do
- Speak with a TCA-certified TMA service provider to enrol in the relevant TMA scheme.
- If required by permit, have a TCA-approved Smart OBM system fitted to your vehicle.
- Cancel your IAP enrolment by emailing the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads at [email protected] (until 28 March 2024) or the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator at [email protected] (from 2 April 2024).
More information about the transition is available on the Business Queensland website.
