RIM Class 3 Truck and Dog Trailer Monitoring Scheme (NSW)

The RIM Class 3 Truck and Dog Trailer Monitoring Scheme (NSW) uses the Road Infrastructure Management (RIM) application of the National Telematics Framework.

The scheme is made available by Transport for NSW to enable monitoring of eligible Class 3 20m Long 3-Axle Truck and 4-Axle Dog Trailers at General Mass Limits (GML) or Concessional Mass Limits (CML) on approved routes of the NSW road network.

To participate in the scheme, transport operators must conform with the requirements specified within the National Class 3 20m Long 3-axle Truck and 4-axle Dog Trailer Mass and Dimension Exemption Notice and an applicable permit, available on the NHVR website.

Transport operators can enrol vehicles in the RIM Class 3 Truck and Dog Trailer Monitoring Scheme (NSW) by contacting a registered or certified application service provider (ASP).

TCA must approve telematics devices or similar used in the scheme. The telematics device or similar used in this scheme will generate position records and report them to TCA.

Unless required by law, TCA will destroy the telematics data it has received relating to the transport operator’s nominated vehicle(s) 12 months from its receipt of the data.

TCA will analyse data received through the RIM application, and reports will be made available via the Telematics Analytics Platform (TAP).
