What we do

  • TCA works with governments to develop administrative arrangements that enable them to receive vehicle information for a range of purposes or to meet policy objectives.
  • TCA develops and maintains performance-based specifications for systems, devices or applications used to collect vehicle-based data. Examples include telematics and mass monitoring systems and alcohol interlock devices.
  • TCA approves devices or systems to ensure they meet performance-based specifications.
  • TCA certifies application service providers to ensure their management practices and systems meet the requirements in the specifications.
  • TCA collects, validates and stores telematics data provided by application service providers, with appropriate security and privacy protections.
  • TCA audits application service providers and technology suppliers regularly to ensure data accuracy is maintained.
  • Through the Telematics Analytics Platform (TAP) online data platform,  TCA provides reports which identify individual vehicles to government and transport regulatory bodies for compliance purposes and de-identified analytics and reports to government and other parties for road management and decision-making purposes.
  • TCA responds to research requests from government and private organisations for access to aggregated and de-identified telematics data from vehicles operating within the National Telematics Framework ecosystem.
