TCA presenting at NeTC Industry Forum 2013
Transport Certification Australia (TCA) today announced its Chief Executive Officer, Chris Koniditsiotis, will be presenting at the 2013 National Electronic Tolling Committee (NeTC) Industry Forum, which is being held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre over two days on 22 and 23 May 2013.
‘I’m pleased that TCA is once again part of this annual, high-profile event hosted by ITS Australia,’ Mr Koniditsiotis said.
Mr Koniditsiotis will be delivering a presentation entitled ‘The intersection of policy and technology – the implications for advancing ITS’, which will focus on the need for technologists and policy makers to interact effectively so that positive outcomes can be generated.
‘It is notable that major policy reforms have the potential to leverage the capabilities of telematics and other intelligent technologies,’ said Mr Koniditsiotis.
‘However, opportunities to utilise ITS often remain unrealised due to a lack of awareness of common interests between critical stakeholders.’
‘The challenge for the ITS sector – both locally and internationally – is how to communicate and position the benefits of ITS into policy domains,’ Mr Koniditsiotis said.
Mr Koniditsiotis will share a number of practical examples where effective interactions have been established to cut across the traditional barriers of technology and policy.
‘While the Australian ITS sector has the necessary strategic focus to direct its efforts, what’s needed is a concerted effort to build meaningful relationships with policy makers to articulate and demonstrate the options available to decision makers within government,’ Mr Koniditsiotis said.
There will be an opportunity to ask Mr Koniditsiotis questions at the conclusion of his presentation.
