About
Transport Certification Australia (TCA) is a centre of excellence within Austroads responsible for assessing and recognising telematics and other vehicle-based technologies. It exists to help Australian and New Zealand transport agencies collect data from vehicles in ways that are trusted by government and industry and to provide data and analytical services that enable improved road outcomes.
TCA’s broad range of services are shaped by its role as the administrator of the National Telematics Framework. The Framework includes the operational interactions between government agencies, transport operators, and technology providers and creates a standardised, trusted and efficient telematics ecosystem.
A key service TCA provides is assurance. This comprises the certification and oversight of technology providers, so that the data they provide can be relied upon by all stakeholders and users.
Activities
- TCA administers the National Telematics Framework, including its rules, specifications, agreements, digital infrastructure and other supporting services.
- TCA provides assurance services that support but are appropriately separated from regulators, policy makers and enforcement activities, and underpin telematics applications and associated information and data services.
- TCA provides professional advice to Austroads member organisations and national and international bodies that is based on evidence and a deep subject matter knowledge.

In all our work, we strive to uphold four core values of our organisation:
