Class 1 Oversize Overmass Permits

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) allows transport operators using Oversize Overmass vehicles to obtain extended duration permits by enrolling in the Road Infrastructure Management (RIM) application.   

Extended duration permits are offered for laden and unladen permits:

• Laden permits, a 12-month permit can be obtained (instead of 3 months) 
• Unladen permits, a 3-year permit can be obtained (instead of 12 months). 

From 1 June 2020, transport operators are required to submit their applications for access to both state and local council roads via the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) Portal.

Participation in the RIM application, which is administered through TCA as part of the National Telematics Framework, is one of these requirements.
