Road Infrastructure Management Functional and Technical Specification

The Road Infrastructure Management Functional and Technical Specification contains requirements for a technology provider to participate in the Road Infrastructure Management (RIM) application.

As a technology provider, use this specification to complete self-assessment. Once satisfied that you meet the requirements, please contact us to get started on RIM.

RIM is part of the National Telematics Framework and uses common components of the platform. Technology providers will also need to understand requirements for Telematics Data Exchange to provide data that is consistent and interoperable.

The Road Infrastructure Management Functional and Technical Specification contains requirements for:

  • Telematics devices
  • Application Service Provider (ASP) system
  • Data handling
  • Enrolment
  • Data reporting
  • Data exchange.

RIM offers a new way of collecting road use data from vehicles to better inform and optimise the management of road networks. TCA aggregates and anonymises the data it receives for RIM and provides reports to road and infrastructure managers.
