Telematics Monitoring Application Functional and Technical Specification

The Telematics Monitoring Application Functional and Technical Specification contains requirements for a technology provider to be certified for the Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA) application.

This specification is used as the basis for the certification of an application service provider (ASP) for TMA.

TMA is part of the National Telematics Framework and uses common components of the platform. TMA uses a TCA-approved telematics device to monitor vehicle use.

The ASP will also need to understand requirements for Telematics Data Exchange to provide data that is consistent and interoperable.

The Telematics Monitoring Application Functional and Technical Specification contains requirements for:

  • Use of a telematics device
  • Application service provider (ASP) certification
  • Device installation, operation and maintenance
  • ASP system
  • Data handling
  • Enrolment
  • Data reporting
  • Data exchange
  • ASP audit and review, etc.

TMA provides a flexible, cost effective approach to the management of vehicle access using telematics. It offers a lower level of assurance for lower risk activities.
