About RIM Express
The RIM Express Scheme allows existing telematics devices and services to be used without the service provider needing to become registered or certified through the National Telematics Framework.
To participate in the RIM Express Scheme:
- A transport operator must conform with the requirements specified within the instrument of access approval (e.g. one or more applicable permits or a Notice issued by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator)
- An eligible vehicle must be fitted with a telematics device or similar.
The RIM Express Scheme provides a rapid way of enrolling vehicles into the Road Infrastructure Management (RIM) application of the National Telematics Framework.
It allows a road manager to monitor road use of eligible vehicles under an operating arrangement on Australian and New Zealand road networks where immediate, short-term monitoring of a vehicle is required (for a maximum duration of one month).
How to enrol
Transport operators can enrol vehicles into the RIM Express Scheme by contacting a service provider that may or may not be a registered or certified Application Service Provider (ASP).
Data generated from enrolled vehicles is sent to TCA from the service provider. Aggregated and de-identified reports are made available to the Authority via the Telematics Analytics Platform (TAP).
