RIM Safety, Productivity and Environment Construction Transport Scheme (SPECTS)(NSW)

The RIM Safety, Productivity and Environment Construction Transport Scheme (SPECTS)(NSW) is a scheme made available by Transport for NSW to improve the safety, environmental performance and productivity of heavy vehicles used within the construction industry in the Greater Sydney Metropolitan Area.

Vehicles participating in the scheme are permitted to travel on all state roads and approved local roads in the NSW Urban Zone (excluding bridges signposted with load limits).

The scheme uses the Road Infrastructure Management (RIM) application of the National Telematics Framework.

To offer services for this scheme, an application service provider must be registered by TCA to offer RIM services. A telematics device or similar can be used in the scheme.

Find out more details on the scheme by downloading a copy of the SPECTS document.

TfNSW has also published an updated SPECTS map on routes for eligible vehicles.

TCA will process data received through the RIM application, and will make reports available via the Telematics Analytics Platform (TAP).
