E-Max approved to offer Smart OBM system
Transport Certification Australia today announced that E-Max is now type-approved to offer a Smart On-Board Mass (OBM) system.
Smart OBM systems are digitally connected on-board weighing systems that enable new productivity and safety initiatives using applications of the National Telematics Framework (NTF).
Type-approval involves the assessment of OBM system ‘types’ against the performance-based requirements contained in the OBM System Functional and Technical Specification.
All Smart OBM systems are type-approved by TCA and allow transport operators to benefit from productivity and safety arrangements – including the High Productivity Freight Vehicles (HPFV) in Victoria and the Performance-Based Standards (PBS) monitoring scheme in Tasmania, that require the availability of mass data collected through the use of Smart OBM systems.
Details of the E-Max Smart OBM system type-approved by TCA are listed below:
Supplier | OBM System model | MSU* models | Category |
E-Max Aust Pty Ltd | Air-Weigh LoadMaxx | 6030 single internal sensor 6060 dual external sensor | Smart OBM system (Category B) |
The type-approval of the Air-Weigh LoadMaxx Smart OBM systems joins the existing Category A type-approval that E-Max already holds.
Phillip Carthew, Managing Director of E-Max, said, “We are extremely proud of the achievement of receiving a Smart OBM system (Category B). We would like to thank all our customers for two decades of support, along with our partner Air-Weigh in achieving this milestone in our history.”
Mr Carthew added, “We are also thankful to have a long-term partnership with everyone at TCA and look forward to continuing that in the coming years. We see great benefit and productivity gains working with TCA and all heavy transport road users. These new road access programmes not only increase productivity but make it safer for all road users.”
