TCA establishes new consultative forum with the telematics industry

22 May 2013

Transport Certification Australia Limited (TCA) today announced plans to establish a Telematics Industry Group to provide a consultative forum between TCA and the telematics industry on current and emerging issues of interest.

As a government owned body, TCA was established in recognition of the growing transport challenges facing Australia, and the role that telematics and intelligent technologies can play in driving the reform agenda.

The TCA National Telematics Framework – agreed to by Australian Governments –  provides a national environment to support the current and future telematics needs of governments, end-users and industry.

‘With policy makers turning to telematics (and associated services) across a spectrum of applications to improve safety, productivity and efficiency, the Telematics Industry Group will play a key role in advancing positive outcomes through the intersection of policy and technology,’ Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chris Koniditsiotis said.

‘The Telematics Industry Group therefore has a very specific aim – to provide a consultative forum between TCA and the broader telematics industry on current and emerging issues of interest.’

‘We’re seeking participation from manufacturers and suppliers of telematics hardware, software and associated services, including Service Providers certified by TCA.’

‘I welcome the opportunity to engage in an ongoing dialogue with the broader telematics industry, and to respond to the current and emerging needs of government and industry verticals,’ Mr Koniditsiotis said.

Registrations of interest can be made prior to 7 June 2013 by completing the form on the Telematics Industry Group page.
